Škoda Extends Takata Recall: Eight Models, 7,925 Cars in Germany
Škoda is extending the Takata recall by 77,360 vehicles. In Germany, 7,925 cars from Citigo to Kodiaq are affected. Owners are written to by the KBA.

Škoda has extended its Takata recall: a further 77,360 vehicles are affected worldwide, 7,925 of them in Germany. A faulty inflator in the driver airbag can cause an uncontrolled deployment – metal parts can then injure occupants.
Models affected by the extension
The extension covers eight models from the production period May 2016 to December 2017:
- Citigo, Fabia, Rapid, Roomster
- Octavia, Superb, Yeti, Kodiaq
Škoda runs the campaign under recall code 69PC; at the KBA it is registered under reference number 16712R.
The first recall of October 2025
In October 2025 Škoda had already recalled 138,441 vehicles worldwide, almost 13,500 of them in Germany. At that time the Citigo, Fabia, Octavia, Rapid, Superb and Yeti from the period April 2014 to June 2016 were affected. Together, both campaigns cover model years 2014 to 2017.
What owners should do
- Wait for the recall letter from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) – and take it seriously.
- Check with the manufacturer, using your VIN, whether your vehicle is included.
- Book an appointment at a Škoda workshop – the driver airbag is replaced with a new one free of charge.
